In 2006 FHWA issued the two-volume manual titled “Soils and Foundations” which has served as FHWA’s flagship product for geotechnical engineering. An update of the manual is titled “Geotechnical Fundamentals for Transportation Projects” (GFTP) and has been completed. The GFTP manual will be presented as part of a 4-day course nationwide. The pilot course is scheduled to be help by Florida DOT.
